Khustai National Park

Khustai National Park, about 95km west of Ulaanbaatar, protects rolling steppe grassland and is best known for its successful reintroduction of Przewalski’s horse (Takhi) — the last truly wild horse species, which had gone extinct in the wild before captive-bred herds were reintroduced here.

Why visit Khustai National Park

Khustai is the easiest genuine wildlife encounter near Ulaanbaatar: a real chance to see wild Takhi horses, alongside red deer, gazelles, and marmots, without the long travel times of Mongolia’s more remote regions.
